My son found his thumb at 3 months and loves to grab his hair or anyone’s hair and suck his thumb. He actually has a thumb-sucking injury on his nose. He puts his thumb up against his nose and scratches it. He keeps picking the scab and will not let it heal. We keep putting ointment on it and telling him to stop messing with it. He does it at night when he is sleeping without really knowing it. He even pulls off the band-aid off at night. Lightning McQueen band aids are not enough to protect it:) I keep his nail really short and he still manages to pick the scab too. So fun. I like his little battle wound.
So here is to my thumb-sucking sweet boy. It will be a fun habit to break one day. He will also have to tell his friends he has a scar on the side of his nose from sucking his thumb. I think we can come up with a better story for that scar:).
Do you have any thumb-sucking stories or remedies?
