I had some good friends help me pick out what I really needed for my first baby and searched ratings on amazon and consumer reports. I love hearing from other moms what has worked the best for them too. Here are a few of our favorites for the first 4 months in no particular order.
Kolcraft Contours Bamboo Soybean Latex Crib– I won this from a blog giveaway and love that one side is firm for baby and the other side is softer for a toddler. The best giveaway prize ever!
American Baby Company Organic Waterproof Quilted Crib and Toddler Pad– Since I have the organic mattress, I wanted to have an organic pad and this one is so nice and holds up well in the wash.
Fisher Price Rainforest Melodies and Lights Deluxe Gym– My son loved this and my daughter loves it now. She really likes the lights and mirror. She can kick and move and it is great for tummy time.
Fisher Price Baby Papasan Infant Seat – A good friend gave this to me after she was finished with it and it is great for when I want to eat or take a shower. Also great for taking pictures with brother and sister.
The Miracle Blanket– The best swaddling blanket! It worked for my son and for my daughter now. She is just starting to out grow it. It really helps her sleep.
Cloud B Giraffe and Twilight Lady Bug or Turtle: I absolutely love the giraffe. It makes soothing sounds and helps transition my little one when the 2.5 year old is going crazy. I like falling asleep to it too! We love the Cloud b Turtle and Lady bug. My son loves his turtle and the ladybug works great for a nightlight at this stage to change diapers at night and see.
Fisher Price Peek-A-Boo Leaves Musical Mobile-I think any mobile works great. This is one we had for my son and they both have loved it. She watches it move and it plays soft music.
Munchkin Portable Nightlight-This has also been a huge help in changing diapers at night. I like that it is small and you can move it around with you. It was a great shower gift!
Swaddlebees Cloth Diapers-Gifts from my baby shower from a great local store called KD’s Treehouse. Love this store. I want to own everything there! More on this place later.
Kissaluvs Size 0-These were the easiest to use from day one of trying the cloth diapers. They are easy to to put on and work well with the thirsties covers. She is about to move up to the size 1 kissaluvs.
Thirsties Diaper Wraps-X-small and small-Great cloth diaper covers for prefolds and kissaluvs.
Cloth Wipes– I made some out of old flannel baby blankets and bought some from an etsy shop.
Kissaluvs Antibacterial Pail Liner-I have two of these! They are a must have for me and cloth diapering. I can throw them in the wash with the cloth diapers and have one when the other is in the wash.
Life Factory Teether-Also got this from KD’s Treehouse. A great safe teether and one my little girl can grasp and chew.
Sophie the Giraffe-Another great safe teether. She is just starting to be able to grasp it and loves the squeaking sound.
Gowns and Button up pajamas-Easy for diaper changes
Moby Wrap-This wrap is great for snuggling in the baby tight to make her feel like she is still in the womb. My little girl loves this and always falls asleep in it. It does start to hurt my back a bit if I wear it too long. I like the Baby Bjorn for shorter trips and walks around the neighborhood. It supports my back better and is easy to get on and off quick.
Summer Infant Video Monitor-I never thought I would need one of these, but it has been a huge help. I am trying to transition my little girl into her crib and this helps me to “sleep train” her and make me feel at ease! One of the most helpful gifts we received this Christmas!
Primo Euro Bath-This is a great transitional tub from birth to toddler. It is made so you can easily bath them when they are really little and grows with them. I found it at a consignment shop in St. Augustine!
The Boppy Nursing Pillow– I used this with my first and use it now. I know there are other great nursing pillows but this has worked well for me and both my kids. My oldest still likes to snuggle on his and use it as a pillow.
Gum Drop Pacifiers-She did not want to take a pacifier in the beginning and would just let these sit her mouth. She has finally taken to these and I have tried many kinds. She always wants to suck her thumb, fingers, everything, and hopefully these will help soothe her.
Graco Pack N Play– This has been by our bedside since the day we got home from the hospital. It was the perfect place to have her sleep and have her close to nurse her at night. Also, made diaper changes easy in the middle of the night. We love it for travel too.
Fisher Price Cradle Swing– A friend let us borrow this and it was great when she had jaundice and had to be on the bella blanket. She loves the mobile the moves above it and is starting to outgrow it. It was one of the places she would actually sleep in the early weeks.
Chicco Key Fit 30 Infant Car Seat-We used this for our son and now for our daughter. It has great safety ratings and they fit nice and snug in it. The material is easy to clean too.
Tommee Tippee Bottles– My son never took a bottle and we were hoping to get our daughter to take one. We tried some in the beginning and they did not work. A neighbor brought us a Tommee Tippee from a mom she worked with who loved them. So for the occasional bottle, our girl likes Tommee Tippee. The are similar to nursing and very easy to clean.
