I love October and fall! We have been loving our fall themed weeks and fall weather! We did a lot fun things the past couple weeks and talked about the letter C and D.
C words of the week: CARS, CATERPILLAR, CLOUD, COLOR, CIRCLES, CONSTRUCTION, CONES
We started off with one of his favorites-CARS. He had fun coloring cars, reading books on cars, racing cars, and saying.”Speed, I am speed.” Lightning McQueen
He ate a CAR that Grandma Vivie created out of grilled cheese.
It rained one day so we did some rain drawings. He colored his Letter C and C words and Circles and then we put them in the rain to see what they would create.
We learned about CATERPILLARS and read our favorite book, A Very Hungry Caterpillar by: Eric Carle
He made a CLOUD out of cotton balls, and we found pictures in the clouds outside.
He read some great books on CONSTRUCTION like the The Construction Alphabet Book by: Jerry Palaotta & Rob Bolster and Construction Zone by: Tana Hoben.
He played soccer and knocked down his CONES. I was trying to teach him how to kick through the cones, but he invented his own game.
He also CUDDLED with his new baby sister.
Our theme of the month has been Fall and this week we collected acorns and leaves.
Made a leaf drawing like in the book Fall Leaves Fall by: Zoe Hall.
He went to a fall festival and made a bat mask and got a spider balloon.
We went to the pumpkin patch and had a pumpkin themed week with lots of great books, treats and pumpkins.
He has a delicious fruit salad Jack-O-Latern snack.
We made pumpkin pancakes along with the book Pumpkin Day by: Nancy Elizabeth Wallace an made some pumpkin butterscotch cookies. The recipe for these cookies is at http://www.joythebaker.com/blog/2008/10/pumpkin-cookies-revisited/. So yummy!
D words of the week: DOMINOS, DAD, DINOSAURS, DIGGER, and DANCE.
For the letter D he played DOMINOS with DAD.
Built a fort with DAD and played in a refrigerator box with DAD.
We had a DINOSAUR themed day with lots of great books and went on a DINOSAUR hunt. I checked out all of the Dinosaurs books at the library by: Jane Nolen and Mark Teague like How Do Dinosaurs Learn a Their Colors and How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night.
He also received his dinosaur Halloween costume in the mail that week and got to be a dinosaur for the day.
We talked about his favorite construction machine the DIGGER. He played with his diggers and read the Digger Man by: Andrea Zimmerman & David Clemesha with Dad.
We ventured to Boo at the Zoo for some Trick or Treating fun and good times too.
They had a DANCE party and we joined in on the fun.
