This week we mixed I and J, because there are very few fun words that begin with these letters. Day one was INSECTS & ICE, and Eli loved looking through the insect books. He recognized a lot of the bugs after we read the book a couple of times. We went on an insect hunt outside but did not have much luck since it was cold, but we did find some pumpkin seeds growing in our garden.
Day two was my favorite and it was for INSTRUMENTS and JAZZ. I busted out all of our instruments and let Eli play whatever his heart desired. He attempted to play the harmonica for the first time which was really nice. We did lots of dancing to Baby Loves Jazz all week.
We talked about Jellyfish and jumped. We looked at pictures of a Jaguar and made the noise we thought one might make.
The last Day was JESUS which is the perfect transition for our next two weeks. Instead of doing letters the next two weeks, I am going to do a Christmas theme and pick a word a day or couple of words to focus on for the holidays.
We received this great board book last Christmas called The Christmas Story by: Patricia A. Pingry, and I have been reading it every night to him.
Other I and J words: Igloo, Ice Cream, Juice, and Jug.
