We talked about one of Eli’s favorite words today, BALLS! We had no problem finding balls and coming up with activities with the balls. He has a lot of little things you can put balls in and dump them out. He put every ball through his mini basketball hoop. We talked about the letter B and ate bananas, blueberries, broccoli, and bread & butter. We read lots of B books: like Big Bird’s Basket, The Yellow Ball, mini B letter book, Elmo Balls book and played with blocks.
B is for BOATS. I had a nice boat station set up for Eli, and he ran right to it. He wanted to play with the big boat and took apart the boat puzzle. We read Byron Barton’s book called Boats. He threw (placed gently in the monkey’s mouth) some bean bag bananas is his Monkey Bean Bag Toss from his 1st B-day party. I made him a lovely “boat” snack made from apples, carrots and cheese. He got to play with his big boat at bathtime too.
We talked about BUGS, BUTTERFLIES, BEES on day three. We went to storytime at the Library, and Eli pulled all the books off the book cart and ran around like a mad man. When Mrs. Pat was reading A Very Hungry Caterpillar (he calls it POP), Eli walked up front and started taking the felt fruit pieces off the board. We searched outside for some bugs, bees, butterflies. We read lots of books about all three and sang Bringing Home My Baby Bumblee.
Day 4 & 5 is for BEARS, BUBBLES, & BALLOONS, because I found so many books at the library on them. He has been in love with his teddy bear lamp lately and gets up every morning and says Hi Ted! He took his stuffed black bear for a ride on his Stride to Ride Lion. We blew bubbles, but he had no interest in them. He did like the balloons and played with them alot.
I write the letter B everywhere, and he calls it a B some times and then a heart other times. He is crazy for stars lately and when he sees the letter A he calls it a star most of the time. Hey, at least we are learning our shapes:).
We went to Blooming Butterflies for our adventure this week at the Edventure Children’s Museum. Eli loved looking at the butterflies.
